Hell Yes: A Tribute to 5 Years of Glory at Uber Tavern

June 23rd, 2011 No comments

Look for the glowing sign over Aurora.

The very best and brightest of Seattle’s beer taverns has a birthday on Sunday. Awesome, now I don’t have to create an excuse to champion a Sunday.  Thanks, Uber.

You have all heard me cheer, parade and clamor about the simplistic wonder that is Uber Tavern. From its basement-like space, Uber dazzles with a multiple size pours of some of the best beer available in Seattle. Like an everlasting flame (stupid joke about their gas fire table), Uber pushes through year 5. Celebrate with them – and me.

Uber is pulling out all the stops: Beer Geek, Sang Noir and a beer from Bend’s Boneyard! If you can’t take the ABV, grab a $3 Trickster and hang out.

See you Sunday.

5 years came very quick, and we owe it all to our customers.

Let us pay you back this Sunday.

As we often do for special events, we’re going to be tapping some extra special kegs, plus offer some super cheap deals on the good stuff as a way of saying “thanks!”.

SUNDAY JUNE 26th, 3PM TO CLOSE:
Kegs first, then the deals.

4 kegs of GREAT rarity and MUCH ballyhooing:

Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast Stout:
- Legendary world-class dark beer from Denmark, rated a perfect 100 out of 100
De Proef K-O (aka Knock Out):
- Incredible 10% beautiful Strong Golden from Belgium, rarely seen on draft and insanely good
2009 Cascade Sang Noir:
- The last of a great one. 9.5% barrel-aged sour masterpiece. Once gone, it’s gone.
Boneyard Notorious:
- First/only keg ever in Seattle of this rare 12% hop MONSTER from Bend. Pretty amazing stuff and very new to the scene.

The deals (all Sunday):
$5 11oz goblets: De Proef K-O. Normally $7-$8. This is an amazing deal.
$3 pints: Black Raven Trickster IPA
$3 half liters: Spaten Premium Lager

Come celebrate 5 years with us and meet our newest family member Anna, who will be slingin the beers all night.

We will also have some very special surprise bottles available. For those you will just have to show up and flash the secret gang sign. That or just ask the bartender.

See you under the bar,

Your friends at Über Tavern

Seattle’s Newest Beer Bar: The Yard Opens on Thursday!

May 16th, 2011 No comments

The Dray has been a favorite for some time - can't wait to see the new joint. (Photo: TonyJcase on Flickr)

You ever been to The Dray? If you have not – punch yourself. Come on, man. Get with it.

The Dray is perhaps our favorite place to catch up over a beer. Its cozy, but you can grab  a soccer match. Its small, but the beer list is magnanimous. Its simple, but the beer taps are exciting. The Dray is a wondrous place that has hosted many a revelrous evening.

Thanks to its owner, we are getting a heftier dose of The Dray over at The Yard. For those of you that missed the clever name (dray backwards), don’t miss the opening. The Yard will open the floodgates  to beer lovers on Thursday evening, when it will showcase its dinner menu for the first time.

The Yard has been described as more of a restaurant, no doubt with interesting beer choices and a full bar. The place comes complete with a covered beer garden, to enjoy those seldom wonderful Seattle days. Also, they are offering a “beer locker” for those interested, where you can keep your mug and drinking shirt and receive periodic goodies from management.

Get out to Greenwood on Thursday and enjoy the opening of the Yard and the kick off of Seattle Beer Week! Let us know how you like the joint by emailing at jess@beerblotter.com.

Prost!

Don't Ever Forget Uber Tavern for Your New Year's Brew

Cascade Brewing at Uber Tavern: I'm Aroused.

There was an excellent article on Washington Beer Blog yesterday about the great beer bars of Seattle. Its writer, Kendall Jones, is probably the most respected of Seattle beer bar aficionados. He has seen over 20 years of greatness from the local pubs – he knows his shit.

But in the midst of mentioning the greats, Uber Tavern missed out on a mention. I presume that it missed out because its a no brainer – Uber is prolific. Kendall was paying respects to those bars that often miss the national spotlight.

Having reached the top of the Rate Beer Top Beer Bar list for several years in a row, Uber Tavern is a Seattle icon. Its also my personal favorite Seattle beer bar. They pour brews from around the world, stock an incredible selection of bottles, and dare to offer 4oz pours (try the full rack). Its the perfect perception of a beer bar.

Uber also has the distinct honor of being Cascade Brewing‘s go to bar in Seattle. When we visited Cascade (Portland, O), their amazing bar manager, Cody, informed us that they absolutely adore Uber. Because of their affinity for the tiny Green Lake bar, they have constantly sent beer to their taps.

Well, New Years has become a special time for Uber and Cascade collaboration. Like last year, Uber will be showcasing some special Cascade beer over the Holiday weekend.

Here is the rough schedule. Do not miss out. In fact, I’m surprised I am sharing this with you all because I am a selfish prick who wants all this brew to myself!!! A Ha Ha Ha….Ha. But, its all about community right? I want my fellow beer brethren there, sharing this wondrous grog alongside me.

See you there!
